10 of Nature
The Tarot of Origins by Lo Scarabeo
10 of Nature
-
- Description
-
A small figure stands with its back to the viewer, dressed in furs and possibly a hood. Their right arm reaches out for and touches the standing stone on their right. In the distance the sky is thick with clouds and it is raining.
- Interpretation
-
The 10s of all the suits are the culmination of their aspects, which is why the ambiguity in this card strikes me as unusual. It is possible that the figure standing in the rain is leaning on the standing stone for support, but equally as possible that the figure is reaching out absently to touch the stone while they watch the storm in the distance. Either way this card is one of pausing, and likely I believe one of resting. Perhaps the stone next to the figure is merely an amorphous natural force. Given its resemblance to a petrified tree, this combination of stone and wood might be appropriate. And perhaps, since this is the final card before entry into the court, the figure is looking back on its journey to see where its come from, and the roiling clouds above the horizon represent the sturm and drang of that trip. This feels right to me. The figure looks back on its journey from a high place, leaning on the guardian of the gate into the more abstract realms of the court cards. Realization has been reached through application and hard work, and the jump to the maturity of the court begins.
- Application
-
Today's application to me lies with the creation of the tarot site for myself over the last three days. I demonstrated mastery over my skills and quickly and efficiently constructed something. In some ways I feel that the 10 of Jewels might be more appropriate, but perhaps this card isn't merely limited to my work, but to my life more generally, and today will be an excellent day for standing at the gates and looking back on my journey while resting on powers stronger than myself.
